I am surprised by how often I hear travel agents that have been in the industry for a long time tell people just to go on the internet to get the best deal. I can bring up hotelsta.com and ccratravel.com and quite often find a better rate that is commission-able between the two sites for my client.
The tool that is most useful on hotelsta.com are the daily specials that the other agent sites do not show. These are sometimes a 50 percent discount off the daily rate, not the rack rate and this discounted rate is still commission-able.
One other way to save on hotels is to combine air and accommodations, especially domestically. First check sidestep.com or one of the other fare-scraping technology tools available on the net to find the best flight. If the best flight is US Airways, why not check usairwaysvacations.com for the best package.
There are a few other reasons to use hotelsta.com. Hotelsta.com has a landmark tool that helps to locate the hotels in the part the the city you or your client are interested in.This is especially helpful in cities you have not previously booked.
There is another helpful tool on this site called Property Types and Amenities. With this tool you can check for any special needs: on-site restaurant, indoor pool, kitchen, or properties that allow pets.
Go to hotelsta.com. Enter your agency number without spaces and press the “Go” tab. The New York Information will come up and you hit the “Go” tab again.
Click on book a reservation and take advantage of the tips above. A commission will automatically be generated and sent to the New York office. Don’t forget to submit you booking form to get your commission.

How do I get to the Daily Specials you reference on Hotelsta.com? I cannot seem to locate them.
